If you have multiple projects going on at once that don’t require the heaviest lifting capacities available, then boom truck cranes are likely your best bet. Usually supporting capacities ranging from about 10 tons up to 100 tons and above, with varying maximum boom lengths and max tip heights to match, these cranes are typically built so they can reach highway speeds while still being able to lift a reasonable load when they get to the worksite.

Manitex boom trucks serve as good examples of how varied these machines can be in terms of configurations. The Series SC boom trucks, for one, have nominal ratings of between 4,000 and 17,030 pounds with maximum tip heights of roughly 56 feet up to 130 feet. And Manitex Series TC boom trucks have nominal ratings of between 44,000 and 140,000 pounds plus max tip heights ranging from 86 feet up to 2014 feet.

Other manufacturers and brands in this space include Altec, National, Palfinger, and Terex.
